Wake Forest is using Toyota's T.H.U.M.S. software to study the damaging
effects of hits and tackles on football players. T.H.U.M.S., originally
created to study injuries in car collisions, is helping Wake Forest
researchers better understand how to treat injured players. Researchers
are also working to reduce future injuries by finding ways of making
football helmets even safer.
