The 2009 Camry is available as Hybrid and Non-hybrid models with a number of trims starting from the well-equipped Camry to popularly equipped LE, sporty SE and luxurious XLE. The base Camry is equipped with a standard 2.4-litre engine that develops 158 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 161 pound-feet of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine can be mated to a five-speed manual transmission or an electronically-controlled five-speed automatic.
The LE, SE and XLE trims are available with the 2.4-litre engine or the powerful DOHC, 3.5-litre V-6 engine that generates 268 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, and 248 pound-feet of torque at 4,700 rpm. The V-6 Camry models come equipped exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission that offers a sequential mode for manual shifting when desired.

| All the 2009 Camry models are equipped with anti-lock brakes (ABS), which aids steering control during a panic stop. The ABS features brake assist, which applies the brakes more quickly and consistently when it senses the onset of a panic stop. Its electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) balances brake application front and rear for optimal stopping distance.
